Björk is widely considered one of the most influential and authentic artists of all time. Known as the Queen of Avant Garde music and Iceland's most recognizable artist, Björk is known for adding an emotional and human touch to electronic music, and she has fused industrial, classical, jazz, and other boundary-pushing elements into her acclaimed catalog spanning over four decades (including her work with the influential Icelandic band The Sugarcubes). Albums like Vespertine, Post, and Homogenic are widely considered some of the finest albums of their respective decades and songs like "Army of Me" are anthems of empowerment.
Björk has never shied away from exploring the complex intersections of nature, technology, and human emotion. Her experimental album Medulla was produced using only the human voice (her song Oceania was performed at the 2004 Olympics in Athens!). Biophilia, a project including educational components, was an album aimed at inspiring curiosity about science and music. Songs like "All Is Full of Love" and its music video were featured at a retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This exhibition proved that her music videos created in collaboration with some of the most innovative directors and artists, are visual masterpieces that further solidify her status as a pioneer in both music and art. Björk is an artist that is uncompromising in her music, visual arts, and fashion.
Björk has influenced countless artists including FKA Twigs, Grimes, Amy Lee of Evanescence, Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Lorde, Robyn, Rosalía, Lady Gaga, M.I.A, and St. Vincent just to name a few.
Björk's discography is legendary, so it was hard to narrow it down to just ten songs. Please keep in mind that this is not ranked:
0:07 It's Oh So Quiet (1995) - Post
0:13 Big Time Sensuality (1993) - Debut
0:17 Venus as a Boy (1993) - Debut
0:21 Jóga (1997) - Homogenic
0:27 Pagan Poetry (2001) - Vespertine

0:37 Bachelorette (1997) - Homogenic
0:43 Hyperballad (1995) - Post
