I'm thinking this might not be a cash register but rather a teller machine, used before each teller window in a bank had a computer or terminal at it. Merchant and Sharp used to make very similar units, and it looks like there's a validator to print on a deposit slip or something.

hey where do you find old registers??? looked all over, , no luck..even the big store models from the late 70's early 80's...do you have any ideas??
