Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (officially Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) (station code: CSTM (mainline)/ST (suburban)), also known by its former name Victoria Terminus (station code: BBVT/VT), is a historic terminal train station and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
The terminus was designed by British born architectural engineer Frederick William Stevens, in an exuberant Italian Gothic style. Its construction began in 1878, in a location south of the old Bori Bunder railway station, and was completed in 1887, the year marking 50 years of Queen Victoria's rule, the building being named, Victoria Terminus.
In March 1996 the station's name was changed to "Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus" (with station code CST). Both former initials "VT" and the current, "CST", are also commonly used.
The terminus is the headquarters of India's Central Railway. It is one of the busiest railway stations in India, serving as a terminal for both long-distance- and suburban trains.
CSMT has a total of 18 platforms—seven platforms are for suburban EMU trains and eleven platforms (Platform 8 to Platform 18) are for long-distance trains. Rajdhani, Duronto, Garib Rath and Tejas Express leave from Platform No. 18. Air-conditioned dormitories were inaugurated at CST on 16 April 2013.
The station has been the location of filming the "Jai Ho" song in Slumdog Millionaire and the 2011 Indian film Ra.One.

I travelled these trains in the 70's and 80's when I was a child. Still the names, Koyna express and Mahalaxmi express are in my heart even though I have settled overseas for the past 3 decades. During the 70's and 80's would travel from Goa to Mumbai ( Bombay then) for fun time visiting relatives. If we left Goa during the day it was Mandovi Express Goa to miraj meter Guage. Night Journey broad guage Miraj - Mumbai Mahalaxmi express. Leave Goa during the night Gomantak express (meter guage ). Day journey Koyna express Miraj to mumbai. During those days the journey till pune on broad guage used to be coal engines and some times Diesel . Pune to Mumbai Diesel or Electric. Those were the days .

Thank you for sharing such beautiful video.
I was a regular passenger of Second Sitting class Koyna Express since my childhood & upto graduation. Today I am a physician & I travel by my private car but I really miss those days, that sound of track, sound of chugging locomotive, local vendors especially "पेढे वाला" that cool breeze, beautiful landscapes, few British era water tanks and last but not least those Semaphore signals.
Pure nostalgic video.
Thanks a Ton for uploading this video.

Wow, impressive. I am stunned how big each station is. Also each provincial platform is extraordinary long, much much longer than what we have here in Thailand. Many people r using trains. Looks very fun and exciting. Thank you very much.
