The US position is that they acknowledge the one chine principal, not that they support it and they certainly haven't pledged anything to it.

I support China, Taiwan is part of China. CCP won the civil war and never retook Taiwan because they were dealing with rebuilding China, and left other autonomous regions like Tibet/Xinjiang alone for the time being. They reinstated themselves in those regions and are looking for a diplomatic ways for Taiwan to join without war. KMT/ROC escaped to Taiwan, and over the time while being left alone, ROC/KMT weaponized Taiwan, and followed a couple international rules to try (currency/flag creation) and take the land as a form of claim of sovereignty as a country. In WW2, Taiwan was ceded to China from Japan as part of an agreement, and there was not only a 9 dash line in WW2 that USA agreed to, there was an 11 dash line originally. So although people are saying that this and that is not right, the original agreement was this, in the past which still should hold true today. Even though people don't like that China changed a couple rules inside of Hong Kong; Hong Kong is a city of China, and as a city of China, they should adhere to some of the national laws of China. Hong Kong people do not want to become an independent country, they want China to stick to the agreement that they had with the UK about the political system. Most people in here are not even close to being educated enough, and are not a very credible source of information for the situation. They fight for what they grew up with, but not for what it right or to what is to the agreement. They grew up in democracy, so they think democracy is the only way. Although China, since 1980, of Deng Xiaoping, it took China 20 - 30 years to catch up to America. Give it 10 - 20 more years, and even presently, Elon Musk and Warren Buffet have said that China will outgrow America by double. This year, in 2021, China will most likely add around 3.5 Trillion in GDP, which is the size of the entirety of Germany.
