When entering or exiting the vehicle, the steering wheel may be grabbed and could cause the steering wheel lock to engage. If this occurs, the vehicle may not start. This video outlines the unlocking procedures on key and push-button start vehicles.

Great video, saved us a trip to the dealership! I was a bit unclear at first regarding the initial descriptive statement saying "turn wheel left n right at same time". Should it be left THEN right quickly, while pushing start button? ...unless I misunderstood. Doesn't really matter cuz you then demonstrated the proper action making it clear.

We encountered this with our new 2018 innova here in the philippines, we thought our car broke but when we called our agent we found out it's been steering-wheel lock. Lol She taught us how to unlock and start the car then voila it worked. Nice feature toyota!

Is there a way to unlock it without turning the car on? My 86 is loud and would be nice to be able to roll to the bottom of the hill in neutral and then start so I don’t wake everyone up
