I wear winged eyeliner every single day, and have done so for years. Zabrena is so right that your tools make all the difference! I wear gel eyeliner because I find it gives me a smoother line and is more readily available in dark brown, which is the color I prefer to wear over black for my fair complexion. The Sigma Winged Eyeliner brush makes gel eyeliner application flawless. It’s very small with an extra fine tip that gives you precise application. I also use the ELF Makeup Remover Pen to correct any mistakes because it has a fine felt tip that is easier to control in my opinion than a makeup wipe or Q-tip. You can find them very affordably on Amazon.

One last tip I have is to really study your eye shape so you have points of reference to begin and end your wings. Zabrena basically did that in her tutorial: she knew almost exactly where to start her wing in the outer corner. I have a similar eye shape to Zabrena, but I prefer to draw the line for my wing from my eye outwards because I can control the length of the wing better. I start my wing right under my lower lash line and draw towards the end of my brow. Then I draw a line back towards my upper lash line to create a triangle. Then I fill in the triangle and have my wing! By knowing my eye shape and understanding that my lower lash line and the end of my brow are the most flattering reference points for me to use to create my wing, I make far fewer mistakes.

Such a great video! I wear winged liner almost every day, but my eyes are actually different shapes (one is more almond the other is more round) which is normal. I utilize the eyeliner to lengthen my rounder eye and it’s amazing how suddenly symmetrical things are! It did take lots of practice figuring out which specific shape each eye needs, but I’d say it’s totally worth it! I bounce around with the mediums and colors I use, I try and stick with brown just because it’s not as harsh.
