I use 3-4 pinecones under my kindling to fire up my wood stove. Never fails

Also worth noting.. often where there are pine cones.. there are dried out pine needles.. those also take spark and flame very well! Even if wet.. roll some back and forth in your hands to crush and twist them.. helps dry them out as well then the will take flame 👌

You can find it local lumber mills when they sell the random offshoots in the bad lumber in big loads for cheap lots of good wood to the mill down for building and lots of good scrap Drywood that’s not chemically treated but you can use of wood stoves you occasionally find pieces of fat wood in there too since it’s been dried and all the resin and sap imbue in the wood
