I started out my career as a helicopter mechanic in the USAF. When you work in acft maintenance in the U.S. Military, they tell you every known detail about every acft crash in the world, so that any maintenance-based errors can be avoided.

When I was discharged, I went to work for Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) in thier overhaul facility at JFK International Airport in Jamaica, Queens, NYS.

In all of my decades working in maintenance, I have only ever heard of ONE other incident where a helicopter lost its main rotor in flight, and that was the Trump corporate helicopter, back in the late 80s/early 90s (don't recall what year, precisely, but I worked there from 87-91).

This is BY FAR the rarest type of inflight failure there is. There are only TWO realistic possibilities that cause this:

- Failure of maintenance crews to properly inspect, diagnose, and repair the main rotor assembly, or

- Sabotage

In the case of a failure on the part of maintenance personnel, multiple NDIs/NDTs (non-destructivve inspections/non-destructive tests) are performed to evaluate the structural integrity of everything from hardware to major components (X-rays, Eddy Current, Magna Flux, Die Penetrant, etc.).

There is a specific component, common to all rotory-winged acft, known (affectionately) as the "Jesus nut". This is the primary piece which holds the main rotor assembly to the transmission output shaft. It's called that because if it ever fails, that's who you're gonna meet.

My condolences to the families of those who died in the crash.

I started my career in Aviation - manufacturing of the South African Oryx Helicopter. This is a variant of this type Aircraft featuring in this video. The Oryx Helicopter fits in between the Puma and Super Puma models and is exclusive to South Africa. These Helicopters are awesome Rotor Type Aircraft and extremely reliable, and highly capable. This insident is clearly a maintenance issue!!! There are very frequent Inspections and safety check performed on these Aircraft and all others. If there was a failure it should have been detected!!! I cannot believe this is due to "malfunction" Definitely a failure!!! This is due to human error which means that the inspections and safety check were not performed!! This crash and the loss of lives unacceptable!!!! This "problem" should have been identified, resolved after landing when a warning light was detected!!! There is at all times records of inspection, maintenance, repair documentation and reports to track all activities, sign-off by the maintenance crew!!!
This incident warrents an investigation, get it done!!!

The rotor is the strongest part of the helicopter, hearing it just come off is a one in a million chance kind of malfunction. Even when helicopters crash or hit something with its blades, the rotor remains intact in its mounting. This is either maintenance negligence or sabotage.

What does the text read have to do with the images/sequences of helicopters shown in this video? Nothing, except there is also a PUMA-helicopter appearing in the video However, shooting out flares from a military helicopter and all the other footage has nothing to do with the people being killed in that accident with the helicopter servicing a Norwegian oil rig.

Who were the occupants that perished in this crash? Somebody was target? Investigation is warrented. This video coming up now is no coincidence in my opinion.

I prefer the puma look over the blackhawk, i wonder in a different time the puma would have had that role.

Father, I ask that you wrap your arms around the Families of those who were lost in this helicopter crash.. Please talk to them and bring guidance into their lives with your Word..Father, I ask that you please bring healing into their lives, healing from the hurt, pain, and sadness, healing from worry and anxiety, healing from depression and grief, healing from anything else that may bring harm to their body and homes.. Father, I ask that you please bring healing, comfort, and peace to their mind and heart for their loss.. I ask that you please remove the sadness and replace it with happiness, love, laughter and tears of joy, for the memories made and for the memories they can make in Heaven.. Father, I ask that you please provide for any assistance or needs that they may have and I ask that you please bring blessings into their lives so that they may be a blessing for others.. In Jesus name, I pray.. Amen!!!
