It's almost as if someone perfectly described how I approach my entire life, crazy!

Perfectionism is caused by discrepancy( a difference between goals and actual result. Ideal self and actual self), reacting negatively to mistakes( believing youve failed by making a mistake

I'm in my mid 20's now and up until now I have nothing but regret for all the things I missed. I took things too seriously and never allowed myself to just be, and now I know it was because of being a perfectionists. I could never just go with the flow and just be. I could only do something if I was sure it would be perfect, so I missed out on a lot. I want to change that and just live imperfectly and free, watching talks like this one really helps, thank you!

I can't believe that I never realized that for me to consider something I do as "adequate" or finished, there needs to be zero flaws??? I didn't realize that I didn't even know what the definition of perfectionism is, thats just how I've been living my entire life.

*This was touching on the wound in a "feel good" way somehow. Thank you Elon Kline for being willing to be imperfect and to lift others up!*

Anyone who is secretly a perfectionist? Deep inside, when things doesn’t go exactly as planned, we get dismayed.

It even HURTS to listen to this realistic interpretation of my behavior/thinking process. Jeez. This is awakening.

"Everything does not have to align."
Suddenly struck me, does everything ever align in our universe.

If it doesn't ever occur, how delusioned we are to wait for it.

You may be able to force it to happen by not doing anything & not going anywhere on your selected aligned day. So as to avoid coming into contact with anything that may throw you off alignment. E.g rude people, awkward situation, making a wrong decision, in order to ensure highest chance that you have a perfectly aligned day. But that description already sounds like a delusion to me.

I think the reason we crave for things to align before is because we perceive only then we'll have best chance to get our desired outcome or succeed and be happy.

But, by not doing/deciding ensures that we don't get anywhere close to the desired outcome.

For all struggling with this;
Let's try to:
1. Take imperfect actions
2. Push ourselves little tiny steps towards our goals
3. Know good enough

If there are many likes on this comment, it means this comment is pretty aligned.

𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆.

One day, a wise and prolific vase maker decided to separate his class into 2 groups for 1 month.
1 group was tasked with trying to make the one most perfect vase they possibly could, while group #2 was tasked with making one vase a day, no matter how bad it was.

1 month later, the wise vase maker stood in front of his pupils, and examined their vases. To the surprise of almost everyone, the last vases of group 2 were ALL BETTER than those of group 1. What does this tell you? 𝙁𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧.

Perfectionism's a cancer to have.
It really eats you from inside from time to time. The environment also matters like the parents who wanted you to get the best score and if you lagged behind even a little, they wouldn't be happy about it; literally your efforts and hard work would be pushed aside.
Even in writing this comment it's bugging me to edit it so it becomes perfect (although it's not gonna be)

It touches me to know that there are other people that deal with the same problem I do. But the dilemma is, I already know that Perfectionism is not a great lifestyle, however, I feel like I need to push myself, be the best version of myself, and that a better and more quality person equals a better life experience. I still can't get over this. 😥

According to me no one can be perfect in this world. Since that's the known truth it doesn't mean that we can procrastinate things. Think of it and do things better rather than achieving perfectionism.
