thanks for the great explanation...i do have a question on the range of ln(1-x^2+y), from the domain of the function we noted that the function is taking values strictly greater than the y> x^2-1, so why do we have to take the range of the function as an element of real values ( all y-values) yet our function has a restricted domain different from its natural set up of the logarithm function?
