That's really interesting! My dad's friend is an actor and he told us that when applying for a role, some tv shows and movies have fake titles to keep the production a secret until it's ready to be released to the press.

I feel like this language is true for ANY type of casting. Whether that be on screen or on stage

LMFAO I went to ONE casting/scouting as a kid and the lead (guy?) was really excited that I was “ethnically ambiguous” and was like “you could play anything from a Native American to a (I forget the other thing he said) and as a kid this was very exciting, but now I see how incredibly messed up that is. (I am NOT Native American)

I feel like zendaya booked the job by being an aspirational, ethnically ambiguous child.
The best example I can think of😂

I’m brown skinned but people often mistake me for other races(blasian, light skinned black, Native American, Indian, Egyptian, honestly it’s a little tiring since I’m Latino), though I don’t think all the horror stories are worth perusing my passion in acting

I was on hold for a while then I'd get told sorry she's too tall and they'd do that AFTER I MEMORIZED THE SCRIPT 😅

What on earth is "ethnically ambiguous"? Like no one knows if you're white, black, asian, hispanic or native american? Or you have no race??

I’ve always hand a theory that part of the reason Markiplier because so hugely successful by jumping on a trend is because he’s ethnically ambiguous and has ‘one of those faces’ that looks like someone you know or looks like a lot of people.

I have a question what can help you lock out your arms in a back handspring instead of bending it

Kind of like when they 'option' a Script and then put it in 'Turnaround!' I worked on an Independent 🎥 years ago in a medium size Southeastern city When we held Auditions we didn't let Applicants know that we had already cast the leads! This way we had Backups just in case something happened and we'd have to re cast a Leading role or 3! Lots of sleight of hand 👌👏 in the business!

oh yeah they prefer people who are either extremely white, extremely dark or ethnically ambiguous most of the time (for modelling)

This is so true tho, I'm also in the industry I can confirm as well 👍

I was a child actor, and I definitely struggled to get cast sometimes because I wasn’t ethnically ambiguous. I am very Scandinavian, and my hair was platinum blonde back then. I stood out too much for many roles, even adaptations where the original characters were blonde, because the industry has been trending away from that look.
