Back with the Gilmour Theory episodes, this time with real theory.
Everytime we think about how to build a Gilmour inspired setup, we have to consider all the stuff, starting from the guitar until the last pedal.
This is a guide with tips and stuff based on my personal experience during the years.

This is great for Gilmour on a budget and I would only suggest going after the budget version of his rig because I spent a fortune buying everything he used and in the process realized that to emulate all you need it is a clean amp without a bright cap, a rat, modulation and a good delay. To go beyond emulation, and trying to recreate requires blistering VOLUME. Moving a ton of air. If you listen to his tone, it is not that distorted but there is a ton of sustain and 3 dimensional detail to the notes. Not possible to duplicate without a 100 watt Hiwatt head and 4x12 with fanes taking your head off. Doesn’t matter how good the playing is, you can’t get close to his sound any other way.

Top notch job as always! I know a large chunk of my gear purchases have been based on your recommendations. I haven't been disappointed yet :)

I've been enjoying your videos a lot.
Here is my set up to share with you.
Black strat with planet tone DG pickups. Jcm800 studio. Using low input. Boss tu3, boss cp1x, mxr phase 90 script mod, russian big muff, boss blues driver, archer overdrive, mooer elady, danelectro cool cat chorus(very close to ce2) tc electronic nova delay.
Now I just have to practice....haha

I bought a second-hand Fender MiM about a year ago. It is from 2006. Sounds better than the only Classic Vibe Squier and any MiM pre-2006 I've tested . It has big block and a very nice sustain and tone. This is an useful tip I would have for anyone, if you're going to buy a MiM, go for a post-2006 and be sure it has the big block. Anyway, nice video with great insights!

As always, a great job on these vids. Would you ever consider doing a theory bud on Until We Sleep and Murder from DG’s 1984 tour?

Nice tips as usual, Francesco! Regarding delays, there are indeed too many options. I have a TC Electronic Flashback but I don't like it as it has too many kinds of delays. I'm looking for something more focused on tape delays / echos, something like the Ms Delayette, Carbon Copy Deluxe or Keeley Eccos, I'm not sure yet.

Just subscribed and really loving your content. Would you mind doing a video of settings using the Joyo D-Seed 2? I have one but I am not sure which type of delay to use on which songs/albums. Thanks!

Ciao veramente un grande lavoro. Complimenti. Mi consiglieresti dei cavi patch flessibili (per ora dovrei collegare un Cry baby ad un Ibanez TS 808 ad una pedaliera Zoom G2.1Nu) con un link da Amazon che siano affidabili e ad un buon prezzo?

1:40 isn't a lower radius (like 9, 5 or 12") easier for bending than 7, 25? 7, 25 is easier for chording

Based on all ur videos, I have a CS3, BD2, BIG MUFF Ram's head with me. Is there anything else needed in the OD & distortion chain?
