Rectifying the Sin of the Sale of Joseph

The star of this week's Torah portion of Miketz is Joseph, who goes from being a prisoner in jail, to being the most powerful man in Egypt...on account of other people's dreams. Yosef's interpretation and advice is based on the wisdom of Divine inspiration, and his sterling character is synonymous with purity and righteousness. So why didn't his own brothers recognize him? And why did Joseph arrange such elaborate theatre, confusing and confounding his brothers? Jim Long and Rabbi Chaim Richman focus on the enigmatic Joseph in this week's Jerusalem Lights podcast, sharing more amazing insights from the sages as well as archeological/historic evidence that testifies to Joseph in history. Happy Chanukah from Jerusalem Lights!

Great conversation 🙏🏼Love your insights!
Joseph, the 'Dreamer... clean-shaven Egyptian attire and eyeshadow cloaked his Hebrew origins, as his brothers bowed down before him.
I was born on the 2nd night of Chanukah 1952, my spiritual birthday of Light.
May the temple come this year!

The way Yoseph is disregarded is similar to the way David’s brothers disregarded him when Shmuel came to crown king. I see of course you speak of this after my small insight 🙂 dear Rabbi

3:33 Joseph had 17 years managing Pharoahs prisons and Potifers household! He went to the school of hard knocks!

Would you please post the link to the book Jim presented (with the events on both Jewish, and secular calendar). Thank you

@1:01 Rabbi says to honour the commandment to light the candles, where do I find this in Torah?

The brothers/families of the messiah wouldnt recognise him as that. But they will need him to keep them alive even though they despised him heavily.

The love of the annointed one is greater than his brothers because he will forgive them with the love of Elohim.

The only others I know of who have this distinction of the added letter 'hey' are Abram and Sari.

His brothers remembered a 17 year old arogant teenager. As he grew, he likely matured into a masculin important man. In Egypt, he was a very successful and wise business and government manager. His looks, if they could see him through the Egyptian bling, makeup and appearance, would not be who they would expect. Add Hashem's control.... they had no chance of recognition until Joseph revealed himself.

They must have thought
Joseph was dead- otherwise they would have made an effort to to search for him. They might have wanted to take away Jacob’s pain at some point

I'm sorry but this is HORRIBLY inaccurate. Biblical chronology puts the year Joseph was sold at 1939 BCE with a secularized *calculated* date of 1670 BCE. Your source is deeply confused.

Psalm 81:6. Yosef’s name has an extra “hay” inserted because he resisted the wife of Potiphar.
Hebrew is the mother of all tongues.
Para - cow - pharaoh. Celestial Cow.

Cow... like Aleph... 1st or founder or from the beginning... patriarchy.
The claim of Pharoh is of a patriarch, not unrelated to the Noah origin, though a different tradition.

Also of note... Jews were not the only ones to practice circumcision after Abraham, who reputedly taught aming the nations, including the Egyptians, in some of the old literature (specifically about the skies and some scholarly principles). Muslims, in moniker, were much later since the Koran was long after second (Jerusalem) temple destruction.

Why don't you see Messiah in that story of Yoseph? He definitely is a foreshadow of the one who was to come.
