A couple of things I noticed:

At 1:32, freeze it, and look at the categories up top. At the right, you'll see what looks like "Donations, " and if that's what it is, then huge props to EA for including that. Hockey people, from fans, to players, to owners, tend to be very generous, so putting a bit of virtual philanthropy in the NHL series is definitely in keeping with the spirit of the game.

Also noticed one of the conversations where a player on ZSC, in the Swiss league, was discussing a cereal box endorsement. That's not insignificant; back in 13/14, endorsements and such had to wait until you hit the bigs, so if you were crazy enough to grind out three years in the OHL, you didn't get to see much of the fun stuff. That some of this seems to be available in the European leagues, at least, is promising.

Also promising: the way the mode appears to be structured around individual vignettes, rather than high-production set piecces. That's good, if it holds. Too much production can reduce user agency, and ultimately hurt replayability. Perhaps here, after playing as, I don't know, a team-first defenseman with an eye on investments and charity, you could play another character as a brash centerman who enjoys the finer things in life. Making a mode like this vignette driven, rather than set piece driven, seems to be the best balance the industry's been able to strike, between high production, and high user agency. If that's ultimately how this turns out, it could be a hit.

That said, I need to see this in execution, on release, before I plunk down my money. Anything can look good on a sizzle reel; proof of the pudding, and whatnot. And if the play on the ice is as janky as it's been in years past--e.g., inadvertently icing the puck because my toon apparently didn't notice the wide-open teammate who was calling for the breakout pass--then no sale.

I'm cautiously optimistic, for a change; but the emphasis right now is heavily on "cautiously."
