4K Security Camera Facial Recognition

This is the 4K security camera that installed at Mike's home. It is installed above his garage door.

This is the 4K surveillance DVR that the camera is hard wired to.

RG59 Siamese coax cable is used to wire the camera to the DVR.

This 12V DC power supply box is used to power all of the security cameras at Mike's house.

Mike made this video after learning that some vehicles were broken into in his neighborhood. The house across the street from Mike's was one of the houses where there was an attempted burglary. Mike's home surveillance system captured the video of the three teenaged boys trying to break into the car across the street, however, the boys never came to Mike's house, so a clear facial recognition shot was not captured.

Some of Mike's neighbors were disappointed that his cameras could not record video clearly enough from across the street. Mike realized that most people do not understand the limits of even a 4K UHD camera. So, this video was made to document realistic distances for facial recognition using a 4K security camera.

Fun fact. you cant have 4k video over coax. you would need roughly 4 coax to go to the one camera in order to be able to transmit enough data to be 4k. Also you will need at least an 8MP camera to achieve 4K resolutions. You should also keep an eye on fps. 30fps is good but higher is better. Keep in mind that these resolutions will require much more storage than lower resolutions. I highly recommend going with POE capable cameras.

How was it possible that you were able to mount 4k cameras on old cables? I see you have some kind of box mounted under the camera, is there some kind of signal booster there? Can you write me something more. I have the same problem, the cables are 5 years old and the company claims that they can mount only cameras with Turbo HD resolution. I need to mount 4 on my house.

I am pretty curious about the nighttime performance for those cameras. You see, the camera need lights to perform well, especially at capturing people face.

Any automatic face recognition system build in? Let's say it recognize somebody else faces that unknown than send a notification for your phone immediately, I heard some of the very intelligent cams does that, and should cool enough to make sure your cam work even better.

I have 5mp IP dome outdoor camera with starlight. The still image is clear during the day and night but only moving obstacles eg: cars or people gets distorted blurred or like a ghost image. Any advice on fixing this issue? thanks.

+CCTV Camera Pros Question: Does this go for all 4K cameras? I was looking at some 4K 8MP commercial-grade cameras with a hefty price. Does the word "Commercial" even mean anything other than "fluff?"

I would like to invest in some cameras that were able to make out a license plate and face at least 30+ feet in case of an emergency.

We had a similar problem. Once somebody stole our copper window sills and eaves. Unfortunately, we were unable to identify those thieves. We suspect it was some homeless men who later sold it at our local waste recycling center for money back when our country allowed people to sell all kinds of metal for cash. Even though we have 4k security cameras their faces were unrecognizable.

Also is it allowed in the US to film public sidewalk? Or even your neighbour's property? :D

Can you explain, maybe in a future. 1, some dvr/nvr have face recognition and work with any cameras and some say you must have face recognition capable camera. Why, how do they work together why do both need to have face recognition to work. 2, When will someone make one that has number plate recognition? Thanks

Hey Mike..thanks for great video bought a system 5 yrs ago....its wired 4 cams to DVR....but the cams are 150 ft away in detatched garage....the signal wasnt strong enuf to get back to recorder and cust srvc told me its too far away and i should have used co ax cable which is thicker and stronger...so now can i get a camera that i can use the same wiring..it was so much work to install

I have debated this for quite a while and sticking with coax. IP cameras depend on the internet and network access-if that goes down...so does your camera setup. Am I wrong?

So you jumped across the street pretty quick from 35 to 75 feet. Would you say that 50ft is kindof the outer reach for a face viewing?

question... what would need to be changed so that you could have facial recognition from across the street or be able to read the license plates? I would have thought a 4k camera would pick up all those details even from that distance

Do you have any advice for helping out my cameras with a rain cover. Like you my house cameras have a very nice eve they are hiding under and the rain never touches the lenses. Buy my office building has no eve's. If I wanted to construct a cover how many inches in front and to the sides of the camera should I extend my shield. Obviously it's complicated due to winds and swirling gusts, but if your in the business maybe you might know some general rules of how to minimize droplets on the lens.
