The first time my wife and I were in Paris, we stayed in the 2nd.. It was enjoyable, but we really went out at night.
But our second time in Paris, we stayed in the 9th, safe day or night, spectacular location, music, cafés, and a short walk to major attractions..
A third time in Paris, we stayed in the night again, and traveled to the 3rd & 4th to listen to jazz

This past October I stayed in Montparnasse which I thoroughly enjoyed. The neighborhood is very convenient with great transportation & easy access to so many attractions that you’ve mentioned as well as Jardin Luxembourg—on a sunny day, a great place for a picnic.
I love this channel & appreciate all that you do to introduce us to Paris & the beautiful regions of France. Merci & bonne année Colleen & Antoine!

No.Way. I have been watching your videos for months to prepare for my trip to Paris, tonight is my last night here and just for the heck of it I decided to click on this video, only to see you filmed on the street right outside the window of the place I’m staying. Crazy!

I stayed at the Hôtel Monge that you mentioned in this video. I enjoyed it and the price was reasonable. The concierge was very helpful and recommended La Petite Périgourdine for dinner. Delicious. I would stay there again.

I could watch these videos all day and anytime!! Could you add a budget friendly only video? I am curious is there are any safe hotels for around €150, or is that a scam?

Another excellent and insightful overview. In watching it I realized that I've stayed in most of those areas over the 57 years that I've been going to Paris. I tend to prefer the 4th, the Marais. It strikes an excellent balance. In the past few years we've stayed in the 17th, which has a wonderful neighborhood feel but, as you say, is a bit far from things. But no matter -- we would just go around other areas during the day, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the 17th at night. We prefer to rent apartments rather than hotels. That allows us to shop in the local markets and cook dinners in the apartment A leisurely apéritif at a café downstairs, followed by a simple but wonderful dinner 'at home.' That feels truly authentic.

We stayed in La defence was fine 2 mins from the tube . Paris is so well connected you don’t need to worry about anything as long as you have good tube connection . Unless you want to be near a place where you plan to go out.

Whenever in Paris, I prefer the 17th arrondissement (Quartier des Batignolles) where I stay at an Airbnb. I love how the area has greenery and has one of my favourite boulangeries in Paris known as Boulangerie Baptiste on la Rue des Moines.

Great selection of pros and cons. I think my employer's employee association did an excellent job by booking our group of 150 people in the Ibis in the15th, with the Sunday market on walking distance. The 6th and 7th were on walking/ cycling distance.

Booking rooms tomorrow for our second trip to Paris in May. Went to book a room in Saint-Germain-des-Prés which is where we stayed last time... It is through the roof as far as cost. This video helps to look for a new neighborhood for this trip! Thank you

Back in the early 80s we would stay in hotels ranging between 6FF & 12FF. The SdB was down the hall but so cheap and not a problem :) 1FF=$0.20 Sort of like the old Volkswagen ad... 4 tires just like a Rolls Royce, etc. Later on we lived in the 16th and still had a good time. Happy holidays.

For me the 16th is the place for a (not too short) stay and THE hotel is the Shangri-La ; absolutely worth it ! For a short stay more the center.

We just stayed in the 5th and enjoyed the location. The apt we were in was located directly between 2 metro stations, so easy to get wherever we were going and only a very short walk to the river near Jardin des Plants and the spots to pick up the Batobus or evening dinner cruise (we tried booking the dinner cruise recommended by Les Frenchies, but availability was too tough to find--we ended up on Diamant and loved it and the fact that we could board in our neighborhood). One thing I would say about the 5th, make sure you're not close to the hospital on Bd de l'Hopital, you'll hear a lot of ambulance sirens all day long if so.
