I FINALLY FINISHED THIS ONE WOOOHOOOOOOOO

I’ve been working on this PMV since February, and I’m so glad that I ended up finishing it. I’ve been working on it on-and-off mostly (also a reason why it took me so long to finish), and I did most of it during my last school year. I’m actually pretty happy that I’m posting it today, since today’s my first day in art school. And no, not art school as in college. I’m too young for college lmao

I could go on and on on how much this video means to me and my growth as a person, and I’m very thankful that I was able to do it. Hopefully there will be more projects like this in the future!

✨STORY (for those who don’t read Warrior Cats):

This video is mainly focused on Squirrelflight and her adoptive children - Hollyleaf, Jayfeather and Lionblaze.

Her sister, Leafpool, begged her to adopt her kits due to her not being able to raise them. Leafpool is a medicine cat, and she cannot raise kits nor have a mate. Squirrelflight was very conflicted about it, until she eventually gave in. She raised the kits as her own with her mate, Brambleclaw, and never told anyone the truth about their heritage. Her kits grew up into great warriors, and Squirrelflight couldn’t have been more proud. Tragedy struck when there was a forest fire, and Hollyleaf, Jayfeather and Lionblaze got trapped in the fire. Ashfur (Squirrelflight’s obsessive ex) made a pathway for them, but got in the middle of them and Squirrelflight in intentions of letting them burn. Squirrelflight revealed their heritage right then and there, in hopes of saving them. After they were let go by Ashfur and escaped, her daughter (Hollyleaf) killed Ashfur and then revealed the secret to all the clans during a gathering. Squirrelflight was happy that her kits were safe - and even with the secret out, she felt no different. Sadly, Hollyleaf was murdered in the great battle, and Squirrelflight was there to comfort her and spend the last moments with her dear daughter. In the end, she was still their mother, and sacrificed her whole life for her children.

- Rosemary - Hollyleaf’s death

- Flat colour without any markings - simplicity (aka. “the fire scene + Ashfur’s death + Hollyleaf’s revelation” shown in a less complicated way and Squirrelflight’s perceptions about them)

I still cannot believe that it’s been over a year since I started working on this video, and 8 months since it’s first been uploaded. I’ve gotten a ton of support for this video, at the time when I needed it the most. I went through a lot of things during the making and after releasing this pmv, and this pmv really kept me going artistically-wise. I cannot really explain just how much it means to me, and only those close to me will understand the severity of the impact it had on me. I started making this when I just turned 15, and now I’m 16 and a freshman in an art highschool. This has been quite a journey, and I’m still appauled by all of it. I will keep creating content and try to be more active here, there will be more pmvs, amvs, maps / map parts, animations & animatics, and I’m really looking forward to it all and your feedback! I love that this focuses on the relationships Squirrelflight had with the women in her life, her family that she loved so so much and how they meant everything to her and how she would protect her sister at any cost. Even though she didn't give birth to the three, she saw them as her children and the heartbreak she felt was real.

I’m writing this now since it has been brought to my attention that someone stole my script, character designs and concept for this PMV and used it to make a MAP without my permission. Yes, they have asked me for permission beforehand, but I told them no. They disregarded my word anyway and went ahead to make a MAP call that uses the same song, characters, script and concept as mine. I have since notified them about it and they took the video down. It has all been settled down (for now), but I’d like to put this here, since people don’t read the desc nor my replies to such requests.

Please do NOT copy my work! I have put months into this video, and for a person to make the same thing in 4 hours with no changes baffles me. It is disrespectful to creators who’ve put hard work into their art, and it’s a classic example of theft. I would not be salty about someone using the same song (nobody owns a song c’mon), but the same song AND characters and the whole script + designs?? That’d basically be a remake of my own video, to which I said no beforeheand.

Fanart and videos inspired by mine are greatly appreciated, and I do differenciate inspiration from theft. If you want to draw fanart of this or use my designs in your work - go ahead! I feel very flattered by content inspired by my own, and I support it 100%. But if you take my whole video and basically remake it, then that won’t work. I love the part where Squirrelflight is just sitting and smiling. Then when Hollyleaf leaps it looks like she is about to leap at Squirrelflight but instead she leaps at Ashfur and kills him. GOD I LOVE THAT! :D

i absolutely love this but one little thing i just wanna point out that i haven't really seen anyone else say: i LOVE how lumpy and soft you made leafpool look... like, how when she's sitting/laying she just her whole self fills out and flattens onto the ground, especially with all the loose skin post-birth, it's realistic and gives her a really unique silhouette compared to Squirrelflight, who has this hard contrast between smooth & thin, and big poof fluff throughout her design.

also little baby jay being significantly smaller as a kit and hiding his face in squirrelflight's fur... wholesome

This is a masterpiece, the symbolism is great and it conveys squirrelflight's feelings and struggles so perfectly, I'm not joking when i say I got a little emotional when squirrelflight smiled once the secret was spilled at the fire scene! I love how you captured how Squirrelflight was really a mom to her sister’s kits and truly loved them as her own. But what really made me happy was how at the end you show Squirrelflight with her daughter, Hollyleaf as she dies and the mother daughter relationship and emotion/reaction of Squirrelflight as Hollyleaf dies giving her comfort. Not many things show Squirrelflight being there of Hollyleaf death or at least captures the relationship. I believe in the book when Hollyleaf was dying it just focused on Leafpool and her and Hollyleaf didn’t even really say anything to Squirrelflight even though I believe Squirrelflight witnessed her death.
