How to remove the washer from a mixer tap that's leaking from the base of the neck. The internal washers can wear out and allow water to leak from the neck base, removing the neck from the tap will allow you to replace the washers.

A video that gets straight to the point, finding one on youtube is like winning the lottery...

This is exactly our tap. Every time I tried to pull the spout out, it got stuck on the bottom o-ring. Your video just gave me the confidence to pull a bit harder and it just came out fine. Thanks for posting.

Thx. I was pulling at It but, worried by the resistance it offered, abandoned the task.
Now I'll have another go.

Is this from when it is leaking at the base? If I teplace the o rings as in tjis video, I fear I may still have a leak from the actual end of the spout. Do I need to open up the tap handles? They have no screw.

I have almost exactly the same tap. Ordered the correct o ring parts, (2 black rubber rings and a white nylon split o ring), from the manufacturer and fitted them. I still have the leak. Any suggestions? BTW this is the only tap I have found on YouTube that is like mine so thanks for posting.

My mixer tap hasn't got the threaded part at the neck. It's solid.

How do you put the tap back in, we're pushing it in but it gets stuck around the c looking washer. Thanks.

Mine doesn't leak but it's neck is very stiff and hard to move left to right and wobbly, this happened over a period of a week it's old style thick neck etc..

How did you undo the screw neck without marking or scratching it please.

These are not 'washers, ' of course, but 'o-rings.'

Beware! I've tried this and finding replacement washers [2 major hardware shops tried] seems nigh on impossible. I even shelled out for a 'multi-washer repair kit': nothing in there that even remotely resembled these rubber washers.I think I will have to have a new mixer tap fitted.

I have the same tap but the long part has been pulled out a bit, I don’t think it is leaking, so should I try to just push it back in ?
