They don't claim that the simulation of physicality is created by a computer somewhere; but rather, that it is created by our own consciousness so that we can experience ourselves and others outside of the space of pure, all-knowing consciousness. We all exist so that the collective consciousness (creator, God, or whatever else you want to call it) can experience all aspects of itself outside of omnipresence, and omnipotence; because, in a space like that, of all-knowing and all-power, it can't experience anything new in order to evolve, it's too boring and stagnant. Struggle is required for growth, and a lack of knowledge is required for struggle. So we are in a simulation where we are in the dark about the truth of reality, so we can experience the journey of self discovery.
