I wish people would just stop glorifying it. Such as "this is just the way I am, no need to find tools to work on my issues." that's what gets me. Or expecting everyone around me to conform to me and how my brain works.

There is a big difference between the "here's what I go through, and here's some common symptoms and how I get through it" vs "This is what it is, period." mentality when making content on anything, really, but especially mental health issues.
If I have depression, for example, and only mention the most common symptoms/the symptoms I personally deal with and act like that's all, that might create doubt in someone elses mind because their symptoms might be similar but not perfectly matched.
A day in the life vs I am a proffessional, you know? Big difference.

This is an huge issue for me. I struggle many times accepting me for me. Sometimes I hate having AuDHD from time to time. And sometimes I like it. But my main issue is people using this disorder as a quirky thing as if it is something to want. Why? :D would anyone with a decent mind want to be limited in daily tasks such as cleaning and eating normally?
Is there a chance to get to know who this person you are talking about might be?

I never comment on anything but I am glad to see this because I started following a creater as I had liked their videos for a while but he then put up a post a few of us commented on to express we did not appreciate his approach. He was very judgemental, full of ego (I am better than you all vibes), and triggering and turns out he had done a few recently where he was outright disrespectful to others and discriminative of other conditions even. It really made me angry because some people in the comments were supporting this as his opinion despite the fact people were explaining their personal stories and why they didn't like his approach and he was reacting to the comment with laughing faces ! I feel petty because it won't make a difference but I actually commented, reported and unfollowed him

This is why Stevioe bugs me so much. Most of the stuff he says is harmless, but there are a few shorts he’s done that are truly harmful in which he makes light of people who come into hospital for mental health struggles. Everyone thinks he’s an expert. He’s a former ER tech.

No comments? Hold my keys (cause I'll forget where I put them anyways)

I mean people can really only speak to their own experiences when sharing online, that can probably be misconstrued as medical fact often.

Easy example: what does and doesn't work for one person will not necessarily be true for another person.

That part's relatively easy to grasp when thinking of coping skills and things like that I think.

Now stick with me here, IT VERY MUCH SO APPLIES TO MEDS. There are multiple classes of meds for ADHD and even specific meds within a class, or even the different formulations of the same med all can work better or worse for a specific individual and this will be drastically different for another person. Some people find that the initial dose is too high, some need more, the examples go on and on, but you get my point.

Context: I personally take a stimulant for my adult diagnosed ADHD, and I graduate as a pharmacist in May (aka my job is literally to know things about drugs)

Theres one couple I see that makes it seem like people with adhd are incapable of having responsibility and shouldn't be asked to. They have one video where the woman says that doing laundry is too many steps so she can put it in and the man can do the rest and its portrayed as education but really its just saying that she's not capable of figuring out a system to get laundry done. It's so frustrating bc that idea that if you have any mental illness or disorders means you are automatically incapable of autonomy and adulthood is so harmful.

Social media personalities are not an authority on anything just because their followers think they are.
