"Mimi on the Beach" is a song by the Canadian singer/songwriter Jane Siberry. It is the only single released in support of her second album No Borders Here, first issued in 1984.

Jane Siberry (/ˈsɪbəri/ SIB-ər-ee; née Stewart; born October 12, 1955) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, known for such hits as "Mimi on the Beach", "I Muse Aloud", "One More Colour" and "Calling All Angels". She performed the theme song to the television series Maniac Mansion. She has released material under the name Issa (/ˈiːsə/ EE-sə) – an identity (as opposed to a simple stagename) which she used formally between 2006 and 2009.

On August 30, 2005, Siberry was awarded the 2005 Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Award in music by the Canada Council for the Arts.

True story. As a teenager in the 80s I was bored and tuning through radio stations. I landed on the local college's (Goshen College) radio station and heard this song. The words stuck in my mind for 35 years or so. Fast forward to today, I'm bored, browsing youtube, the snippet of that song ran through my head, I typed them into search, and here I am. I heard this song ONE time 35 years ago before today.

I saw Jane outside Cheapies on Yonge St. Doubt many people knew who she was at that time. Many still don't to this day.

I've thought for years that Jane Siberry influenced Alanis Morissette to change musical style, possibly with song!

A strange, yet memorable song found by accident. My wife's name is Mimi, and I liked hearing her name repeated over and over in the refrain. The lyrics hesitantly climb the sky as Siberry's spell focuses on the pink surfboard, willing it to come to shore rather than being a mere platform for the object of growing desire. I was taken aback that it was a woman gently calling another to rendezvous in a way that is foreign to how men try to entice an attractive mate. The land-locked woman patiently transmits her message, knowing that the ocean will eventually bring Mimi to the beach and to her. A tug-of-war which the woman knows she will win, through telepathic advantage? Or is Mimi the real fisher here?
