I'm going to wait to watch until 2:19 a.m. for the real WAN experience.

That’s so sad the home theater setup video did poorly. For me it encouraged me to finally get around to building a home theater in my house.

You're the only creator I've ever known who's willing to talk about why you're not willing to talk about something. Thank you so much for the illustrative example you gave with floatplane. It helped me. understand I was feeling really discouraged after last week especially with the corporate comment and I felt very out of the loop. Your explanation this week was perfect and spot on thank you

Two things that I suspect are true about why the sound system video didn't perform as well:
1. Quality audio doesn't penetrate as well when most people are completely fine with the quality of sound generated by the TV they have.
2. Most people are viewing this type of video on a mobile device with compressed audio in a compromised audio situation where they can't tell the difference in sound quality for themselves.

Even the timestamp guy has been caught off guard by the early WAN show

About the audio video:
1. Compression can really make the results difficult to tell
2. Narratively lacking
3. Not countering common arguments e.g. about space constraints

The snapchat using a screenshot of camera on android was actually 100% factual. There were researchers who dug into the app and found out why the camera quality was so poor compared to the actual phones camera

I built a cat poop box under my stairs. I built a box around a cabinet drawer, a top that hinged open, sealed up the corners/edges, put a cat door in the cabinet drawer front, and fit it all into the wall through a frame. You change the litter by pulling the drawer out of the wall and access everything through the hinged top. I ran an exhaust fan through a charcoal air filter with a 24/7 low voltage fan, through the stairwell wall into my server closet. The charcoal filter removes the smell. The cabinet drawer I used was for a recycle or trash can, so it's not all that large. If I were to do it again, I'd give my cat a little more room in there and use one of those big cabinet drawers for big pans and stuff.

Just went through the surround system video again.
This is just my thought on what the problem might be.

I don't think the issue is with the "FB Market dumpster dive" videos, I think a lot of people are interested in those. I think the issue is in the reproducability. When people say "I won't be able to find this exact system", I think what they're really trying to get at is that they don't really know what to look for. A lot of the video is showcasing the unit(s) you bought, and how to set them up, but there isn't a lot of showing us HOW to find them. A section on your thought process I think would go a long way. Something like "We found this old Sony system, but you can see it has *these* connectors, which aren't in use with any speakers nowadays, so if you find something like that, it's safer not to go for them" would go a long way to show people what to look for. Or "If you look at system A, you can see it has these useful features that system B doesn't have" and showing a side by side comparison of the shopping process, or something along those lines would make people feel a lot more in the know about what to look for and what to avoid when looking at used gear themselves.

TL;DR
Since a lot of people don't have the money to just go on even a used market to try stuff out and see what works, I think they want a list of white flags and red flags to look out for and actually *how* to shop and what they can ignore and what should jump out at them. Since those kind of videos often start with the item already having been purchased, we miss out on that a lot of the time. Just my 2 cents.

I think the horst situation is rooted in the delivery it was incredibly sudden and lightly frantic leading people to speculate that it was very bad

I really liked the budget audio setup video. Don't be discouraged by one video that doesn't perform as well. There are still those of us who really appreciate it. Thanks!

As an Australian, I feel loved by the choice of WAN sow time.

I don’t think it’s humanly possible for Luke to go a whole WAN show without ranting about Microsoft Teams. lol

I watched the whole audio fb marketplace video, but something else I just thought of is that it's very difficult for different audio quality to come through youtube. So while the other critiques may be true too, I think the "payoff" of "hearing" the great audio performance falls flat for many people.

In the EU Chrome was forced to stop setting Google as the default search engine so any new install and after an update a window popped and asked you to choose a search engine (and Goolgle was not at the top of the list) which is good but it did not affect Google's search share. What's hurting Google is the AI searches.

1:37:49 Having recently switched from Windows to macOS, the fact that the environment is largely devoid of advertisements (especially in the Launcher and Dock) is a pretty refreshing change of pace. Thanks for raising that Luke! And to those asking: I switched for compatibility reasons.

The new PCI-E connector standard that Linus couldn't recall the name of is MCIO (Mini Cooledge Input Output) for anyone interested.
It is fantastic for customizing server motherboards as you can choose to either cable it to risers for standard PCI-E devices that use traditional slots or cable it direct the the backplane for direct NVMe access depending on your use case. This way the same mobo can be used in multiple different server models thus cutting costs and providing more flexibility.

I live in the UK. When I see the stream is live early I always get excited. I would tune in every week if it started at around 10pm UST. I went to Australia for work a couple months back and being able to tune in live at midday on Saturday while I explored Melbourne was amazing. Either way I will watch every VOD if I miss the stream. It is part of my Saturday rituals at this point.
