Mini Nubian goats 101……almost

Want to know a little more about goats!?

Hello! We are the DeShanos. We have a 40 acre homestead in northern Michigan called the Double D ranch. With our four children and grandpa Steve follow along as we establish our homestead, from goats, pigs and chickens to growing food in our garden. We learn to be a little bit more self sustaining everyday.

We have been raising goats for about 35 yrs with mostly Nubian. A few years ago we started including Nigerians. We found them MUCH more resilient to parasites and generally much healthier. We are developing our own line of mini-Nubian and so far it's working very well. Our first generation mini-Nubian doe has good size teats and wonderful udder. Good feed conversion is another plus with the mini's.

Love the floppy ears and lovey personalities. Might go with them on our homestead if i can find some close to us in iowa .

Our nubians are massive and our dwarf buck couldn't reach. Any suggestions?

I hadn't heard of mini nubians before. What is the advantage to producing this cross breed?

I wanted nubians I bought 1 n my neighbors had dwarfs so I got a set of twins from her so she wasnt lonely. I bought a nubian male n I was new to having goats I Bought 2 more nubian girls and then my other neighbor who bought hers off the same neighbor I got my twins from gave me theirs. That being said I bred my male with the dwafts I had to pull them so far the dwarfs thru me 2 sets of twin boys twin girls and 1 male still waiting on my nubians to drop
