Big Derby contender! MILITARY ORDER looks very good in Classic trial at Lingfield!

Military Order, a full brother to Derby and King George winner Adayar, showed plenty of promise in the Lingfield Derby Trial under William Buick for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin.

I really liked the look of that as a trial. Got a feeling the 2nd maybe pretty decent also. Had the run of the race, but is going places. I would fancy him for a top 3 finish in the Derby.

Circle of Fire, a really interesting colt if they choose the Epsom route. Travelled smoothly and picked up well turning in. Stayed on. Wouldn't oppose him if they ran that race again.

Tom Marquond rides WAPIRO. too him to Newbury(last week) for a bit of a gallop. Hood applied, calmed him down. This horse has a serious chance.

how the hell can you have a derby trial on the all weather. plus lets not forget the reason people look at the lingfield trial is because it has a similar bottom corner to epsom. be very lucky get a gap like that at epsom

I was on the second…that drifting into military messed up his chance..would’ve been much closer. 2 best horses by far in the race.

The whole point of the LIngfield Derby trial was that it ran on a grass track almost identical to Epsom with its undulations, and over the same distance. Putting it on a flat A/W track renders the result pretty meaningless.

Wiapiro, come their so easy and got to close and literally stopped running , they need to get to the bottom of this horse, might be exceptional.

I wonder if waipiro is a word in any language besides Māori? It is our word for alcohol and translates as "rotten/stinking water".

This is the "Best of the Trials".
The 1st and 2nd could well be battling it out on Saturday.
The Time was exceptional for in experienced horses.
Waipiro helped force that time on the clock.
Rob Hornby asked alot of Waipiro to cut out most of this gallop, he didn't ask the horse to change legs once in the last half mile, this was maybe inexperience of the horse.
The winner had a dream run, still could only shake Waipiro off in the last 50 yards.

At the prices, you have to back Waipiro each way. 20/1.
If he get a high number gate, if Hornby can track, rather than lead, maybe 2nd 3rd or 4th..

Expect this son of Australia to be bang there at the finish.

Matt Brocklebank(Sporting life) says hes a non stayer, WALOS. He stays alright, Australia produces 12 furlong n further consistently, Waipiro half brother won races from 14 furlongs to 16 on the Dam side.
He stays, He has a turn of foot, can lye up with a fast pace, will love the fast going... Has all the credentials for a very promising Derby run.
Cross your fingers for the high gate draw.
