Beginning the Saab 99 Turbo Strip Down

New workshop, new project! This is a rare Saab 99 Turbo 5 door, and this video marks the start of its restoration. Starting by prepping to take the engine out, because the worst of the rust seems to be in the engine bay. Next time I will actually be removing the engine and shall start taking out the interior.

good luck... Been there on many SLAABs and the finish line never seems to get close enough to reach but you will get there.

ive got one of these sitting in a garage just waiting for me to start on it. its a 1979 2 door. i garaged it because the turbo wastegate seized and the mot ran out i new it wouldnt pass as it had a few rust isues aswell as brakes, these things went like stink but you couldnt stop them very well lol and no powered steering. i shall be watching the rest of this series.

Pre 94 engines were all SAAB, then GM got them and cut corners for profit!

I remember doing clutch changes on these. They are at the front of the engine. Typical Saab!!
