Tip for mounting the roll up antenna:

Get a 5ft driveway marker, paint it a dark color if you want.

Zip tie the antenna to the marker leaving a foot or so at the bottom.

You can then zip tie or pipe clamp the antenna assembly to an extendable painters pole, pvc, or chain-link top rail.

Another great thing to look at is a yagi antenna. It takes your send and receive and focuses it in one direction.

A good go between for the low end and high end is the yaesu ft65. No usb charging..but uses Motorola m1 mic connection, unlockable..and super easy to program on the fly.
