my process is to make some weird patch in some synth, record some notes (typically either just C, C with octaves, or occasionally fifths), run it thru a bunch of effects, maybe resample and put it thru more effects, and then once it's done, pitch it up until it's high enough so that in quick sampler it'll sound a little aliased but not too aliased. since it's one note, you can eq harmonics, tune resonators for it, have spectral stuff that works well with it, whatever, and that's all baked in

triton VST is incredible. i decided to make my patches in combi mode because sometimes two layers isn't enough. you explained the process of making a pad well, especially reaching for sound effects as textural layers and exploiting the pitch/speed relationship to get interesting textures.

Great video. I have the korg VST but will also try these techniques on Roland cloud JD800 and D50. These were known for their cool pad sounds too.

Have you ever considered getting a feild recorder, hunting down the crickets and sampling them so you have a totally original crickets library? We'd all buy the sample pack man.
