People can be SO flaky when it comes to restaurant reservations, so some places are now charging for them! Real fam, would you be okay with having to throw down cash to make a reservation?

When y’all make big reservations, the server stops taking tables (stops making money) to prepare for your party. When people don’t show up or cancel a few mins before you just stopped someone’s pockets. The same way we want business to have good customer service, be a good damn customer.

I think they should hold your card number and charge like a $25 fee if you don’t show. (If it’s a big party)
But the making you pay for your meal in advance is wack

It's basically a deposit to cover the restaurant for customers they may lose out on because they are saving a table for you. It's practical.

If you’re gonna miss the reservation why not call ahead and cancel.

Honestly I thinks it's fair, especially when people made a reservation for an entire group and they don't show up, while the resturant is deneing the table for people who actually wants to have a dinner. Maybe not the entire meal but someting has to be paid 🤷🏿‍♀️

Clearly, none of these women have actually worked in the food industry. When people make reservations and don't show up, waiters and back waiters loose money, and food gets wasted which affects how many hours the cooks get to work. When people don't show up for reservations they have made days or weeks before, the restaurant ends up overstaffed. Waiters don't get tables, and there are less tips in the pot for the back-waiters, many of whom wouldnt have been scheduled if there weren't reservations. They are literally standing around for $2-$3 an hour when they could just be at home or at another job. Not to mention the wasted gas when the manager sends them home after an hour or two hour shift. Extra food gets prepped, and then wasted, especially Mon-Wed, which means the cooks scheduled get less hours to make up for the expense of the waste. And on top of that, tables for large parties get prepped beforehand, so literally, people who walk in without a reservation aren't being seating, which again means waiters aren't getting tables. Yes, sometimes things happen in life and you can't make it somewhere, but most of the time, people are just assholes. I could write an entire book about the inconsiderate things restaurant guests do.

All i know is this . . .if yall gonna charge me ahead of time for the food that I am going to order, have my food ready within 5 minutes of me arriving at the restaurant! Yall held my reservation, I told you in advance what I was ordering, . . . don't have me waiting forever for my food looool.

This is fine with me. A place that has reservations is not a place you simply change your mind about last minute, Jeannie. Didn't y'all have a whole conversation about wanting a man who knows how to plan and the majority of the planning ideas you guys came up with were about reserving a restaurant? Be responsible and cancel the dinner ahead of time, just like you would a doctors appointment or pay the fee it costs for wasting people's time.

They wouldn’t make that rule if they are not already fed up with people not showing up so yeah I would pay

There is a difference between a "no show" and a "cancel"

It is practical for the restaurant but not customer friendly. I would avoid those restaurant. I don't need to stress about this

My opinion is you're paying a business to be a patron. So don't treat it like it's your personal house party and causing others to not be able to reserve their spots when they'd actually show up. It's called respect. I feel if any of these women had been in the restaurant industry, they would have a more informed opinion.

It's only fair that people should pay in advance when they make reservations. My dad and my grandfather are chefs and restaurant owners and I used to work as a waitress for them at weekends back when I was in university and I don't think people realise what it's like to run a restaurant until you've actually worked in one. I remember the chefs and waitresses/waiters would have to go into work hours in advance of the reservations to do the table and seating arrangements, to prep the orders and ingredients and if it was an evening where there was a lot of reservations extra staff would be called in to work that night. Thankfully we never got many cancallations or no shows, but when we did, it was a huge loss to business.

No they are stupid!!! They are not well informed like usual. In fancy restaurants you have to put your credit card down and if you cancel or dont show up they charge you a certain amount. It's normal because those are nice restaurants that have a high demand. You are taking money from the restaurant and the staff!!

Adrienne was about to square up over this hypothetical credit card she put down. I feel like she was talking to some people and they knew who they are.

This isn’t unheard of. The restaurant is losing money if you don’t show up or reserve a table that you don’t want. That table could have gone to someone else. High end, five star restaurants do this.

So at Disney you have to put a credit card down but we charge you if you don't show up so it's a $10 per person fee if you don't show up.
