Such an important topic! As we grow, our fans grow louder, as do our anti-fans... Thank you, Roberto 💙

Use the “Anti-Fans” as fuel to propel you forward. It’s like Floyd Mayweather Jr says… If they love you they're watching, If they HATE you they're watching harder to see you FAIL. Either way there watching & it will help you as long as you have the right perspective! My best tool is responding ‘Thanks For Watching’ even if the comment is in bad faith & rude it still helps me at the end of the day with engagement so I take it with a grain of salt & keep it moving. Thanks for the poignant & much needed commentary on the topic Roberto. Positive Vibes sir! 😎

Not everyone deserves a response. My energy is valuable so I choose to spend it on the people who love and support my content. The disrespectful comments get deleted.

I've put "If you're upset by X, you're not gonna like anything on my channel" on regular rotation when responding to comments. Some people seem used to EVERYTHING being made for them, and they hate that my channel has a clear focus that doesn't include them. On the other hand, my community is close, and some of my own subscribers bombard me with their personal stories of trauma and abuse that I'm not equipped to handle. I'm working on boundaries, and I needed this video. Thanks Roberto.

How to deal with it:

1. Block user & delete comment
2. Stop taking what people say seriously.
3. Move on.

Job done.

That's one of the weirdest part of being an online creator. I usually block every unpolite critic, I don't have time to people that are envious.

I just started posting politically charged music content on my TikTok as a new content creator. The hate was immediate and this video really grounded me! Thanks for this!

well said. Ive been making content regularly for going on three years or so now. I used to get offended by hateful comments, trolls, etc. now I just delete that stuff. I don't give those people any of my time, whatsoever. This has made a huge improvement to my quality of life as a creator. Respectful constructive criticism is encouraged. Hate, trolls, or even rude constructive criticism has no place on my channel.

Really great advice. I wish YouTube would allow you to archive comments like Facebook does. Sometimes you get crap comments that aren't bad enough to delete or respond to, but you don't want to look at them every day until they slide down the list. It's easier to ignore something when you don't have to look at it.

Ive been dealing with haters for a while now and they give me anger issues and make me feel worse and worthless and I can’t stand them anymore.

The worst is when they make a video about you! You can’t delete, or hide. Just ignore it. I wrote a v v controversial book and will soon be a public figure. Gotta study haters ty for your insight

It’s not what these toxic people say that bothers me. It’s how incredibly small, petty and immature they are while being completely oblivious and entitled. They think immaturity is funny and have no sense of how they denigrate themselves by being so.

Totally agree with this. I've had to deal with my fair share of terrible comments and accusations from time to time. The worst comes when someone starts stating that I somehow hate a certain group of people because of my critique on a fictional character. It gets worse when they begin to rally others who've never seen your content to begin a series of harassment. That eventually leads to the block button for sure.

Another acceptable response is: "Thank you for the feedback." That's it. No need for justification or anything. No need to say if you'll apply it or take it to heart. And this gives you the time to process what was said. Might be a few days later, you'll be glad of it, or you'll realise you only thought it was valid and choose to discard it. No promises either.

I have been on YouTube for 11 years..Criticism is very important. It should be expected always and not taken as a deterrent to doing what you love. However, if someone is giving good advice in a “hostile” manner, it can get to you the most because you know they are right… so learning to take things with a grain of salt can help new creators grow. It’s not easy but it builds character.

People have the right to their opinions. And we have the right to boundaries.

The problem that I seem to see the most of is people feeling entitled about what someone else makes. That’s perhaps the case where I end the discussion. It’s kind of rediculous. Unreasonable Demands

I always say” show me an example of your body of work” so I can see what “right, looks like” or “ what or who are you comparing my content to?” So I can see or understand your expectation for my content. Most of the time they point out some creator that’s been in the game for 6-10 yrs, 50k-100k subs. Then I say “oh wow I take that as a compliment, if you’re comparing me with my 2yrs experience to someone like that. Lol.

Ignoring trolls usually yields the best results, because your other followers will slam the troll back without any involvement from you.
