Wrongly Dividing the Word of Truth

Many Charismatic teachers define the Greek word rhema as a mystical and personal word from God while describing the word logos as only the written word of God. In this video, we discuss what the Bible says about each word.

I never knew the idea of the "Rhema" being the freshly spoken word of God came from the word of faith teaching. I should have realized, but had no idea. When I tried to do a video about hearing God's voice on my Youtube channel, I looked at the difference between Rhema and logos and could find very little difference. I am happy I never put that video out with that wrong definition of rhema.

I would like to make the point when Hammon speaks about physical healings, quoting Isaiah 53:5, “and with his stripes we are healed”. 1 Peter 2:24, “by whose stripes ye were healed”, this is not about a physical bodily healing but a spiritual healing from sin. Through the suffering of Christ on the cross. He took our transgressions upon himself suffering for our sins bringing us an eternal spiritual healing. Gosh, I needed this in 1995 when I was in a church that taught all this nonsense. You are correct in saying it is a heavy burden to carry. I always look forward to your videos and grateful that it is helping os many discern and rightly divide the Word.

Amen, Robin, this is simply the work of the Holy Spirit as we read the living Word of God. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer. To make a gift of God into just one more thing to STRIVE and STRESS over needlessly just hurts the Body of Christ. 💔

Thanks much. I was fascinated by the biblical analysis of logos/rhema. Feel I've learned quite a bit but am inspired to look into the Bible's syntaxes much more. I have an English/American Lit. degree and tend to write poetry, so y'all's video on rightly dividing the Word is very informative for me; I appreciate the work you both do to edify the true church and inform about the false v. the true in current Christendom--How important is that nowadays!!!--thanks again.

I have a cousin named Rhema, might be spelled differently but the source is obviously this teaching. I once believed I was born into and raised in a truly faithful Christian family. I still believe, through conversation, that many in my family truly are saved, but they are closer to heterodox teachers and heterodox belief than I once could have imagined. In fact, in May of this year, 2022, Jane Hamon was a guest "pastor" at my parents church. My mother is uncomfortable by the female pastor issue, for which I am so grateful to God, but my Dad doesn't see it as an issue. I love the truth, but it has made so many of my family relationships just a little tougher to navigate. God have mercy. That has become my favorite prayer when I have no other words.
