Boeing South Carolina: A Factory for the Future

Very happy for the folks in SC that Boeing built the factory there, despite all the noise from the Everett unions not to do so. This country desperately needs more new places to build the things the world wants.

Honestly Id only buy a 787 if it was made in Everett I dont trust them to be built in in South Carolina after finding out about all the shortcuts in production they take there

Interesting! If Boeing plans to be competitive in the marketplace they need to do what their competitor is doing. Have a facility down south where everything is less expensive :)

it would be awesome a fact here in Mexico, kuzz, great workers, less salaries (more money for boeing), like the second factory of nissan in the same city a HUGE FACTORY

No not most airlines the sale for the a380 Is so smal compared to what the 747 sells but the important thing to think about is the a380 came to late if you can use an a350 or 787 or 777 or a330 which are more fuel efficient and can make more money because all the planes are smaller its more cost effective

I know a quantas pilot who flies the lax to Sydney route and they a lot of times have to us 777 or other jump jets besides the routes normal a380 because they can't fill them up

Greening is a worthy endeavor. I do hope that solar array was installed by unionized workers.

Hate to tell you but this plant is Boeing's big threat to the IAM workers in Everett, Washington. Last I checked there were no union employees in the SC plant so this is some feel good frosting on a union busting cake!

If its not Boeing I'm not going. Told to me by a young airline pilot in uniform sitting next to me going to NY from Florida. I am private pilot so we talked and he agreed with my theories in general. Never Fly a DC-10 had more screwup when it was new. Then the Airbus gang, better now, but not the legend of Boeing.

Most Airlines are switching to Air Bus, I guess because of the saving of the fuel and also beats the 747 in their double decker A380 Air Bus.
it would be nice if the 747 had much more room or make a Double Decker 747 with a fuel saving engine or use a different engine all together.
