Xiaomi Mi Box 2 Months Later Review

Xiaomi is finally starting to release their products here in the US, and it's kicking off those official sales with the Xiaomi Mi Box, an Android TV powered unit that brings 4K and HDR video to your TV. Sporting an unbelievable price of $69, this unit all but seems to eclipse everything out there on value alone, let alone what it can do. How does this compare to Google's recently released Chromecast Ultra 4K media streamer? We let you know here!

I have it! Perfect! Have this boxes on all my TVs.

Had it for a few days then returned it and bought the Shield. It's just okay for watching content but not enough horsepower for games. And overall it just felt like it struggled to do the basics. These would be good as secondary devices around the house but I was blown away at how much faster the Shield was. I was able to pick one up on clearance for 177 at game stop. Well worth it. I finally found a replacement for my old WD TV and Roku. Plex is awesome on the Shield!

I bought a Chinese version, 4 GB two month ago. I mainly use it for watching my 4K videos from a USB stick. As long as you don’t install KODI, ADD ONS and other application it works fine. It also works with english text. I think my Xiaomi Mi Box works like a random number generator.

I've been using this for about 2 months. I own 1 current Apple tv and 3 older versions. I bought it because of the Android TV OS. I use mostly Netflix and Plex. It's not as good as my Sony TV with Android TV OS built in. But I will probably replace the other Apple TV's with this box. I wish it had an ethernet port. All in all I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

this is a decent player but the Netflix issues are making it a bad experience.

you didn't mention that it also has ChromeCast mode which allows it to work as ChromeCast so there is no way it can't be better.

HI I had the nexus player for a long time and while i was using it it was always stop the sound for a quick sec
so annoying and no one had any idea how to fix it or whats causing it and i know it was very common with the n player devices
do you feel that problem with the mi box?

Just bought one of these just to use to stream tv and for 69 bucks I'm just gonna go back to my firestick. Alot simpler to download and install the apps i want to use on that.

does this device support multichannel FLAC? I have a Chinese Android TV box but it downmixes the multichannel FLAC audio to stereo no matter what audio app I use. video files with 5.1 DD or DTS work fine.

Does it play YouTube in 1080p/60fps and 4K ? does it have option to select this resolutions in movies ? Does it play everything through VP9 codec or AVC-1 ?

Xiaomi is the best company for value, I have a mi mix phone and a mi air laptop.

I love mine so far...and I do have several Amazon fire HD tv boxes...I save the Mi Box for Kodi, I do Netflix on both...Amazon prime on the other....both run far better the less crap you load them up with...

the android boxes are getting too small, why they dont need to fit in our pockets
why not 2x the size so cooler and have room for ports
