I swear, desktop PC keyboards were quite a thing in the 80s. The Commodore 64 being one of them.

SBC has a M.2 connector design, but it isn't usable in anyway.

For a number of years I used a Pi3 as my only computer. Even once I got a new desktop, I still have a Pi4 in my living room as an HTPC. I'm thinking I might like to get a Pi500 just to play with it, and maybe try writing an OS from scratch. It would give me a decent test platform for my compiler's ARM code generation.

That’s actually pretty cool tbh. I was just thinking of building a keyboard type PC.

Always buy the kit, you will have all the needed hardware (you definitely would need a working with the Pi power supply and the HDMI cable) and the printed beginner´s guide is worth it, too, definitively a very good deal for the full set and yes this also qualifies as a backup PC if your main computer is having issues and needs repairs at some point in time.

Makes a fantastic HTPC, in case anyone is wondering. I ordered on launch day after loving my Pi 400 and it has been a great upgrade.

I'd recommend using Ubuntu instead. It's really nice. Especially since Twister OS basically decided to stop doing anything and it only kind of works on 5s. As to the 500? It's kind of a waste. Unlike the 400 to the 4 it's not upspecced in performance and the one thing it could have done they decided to not bother with which was the M2 slot. And you don't even get fan cooling which the 5 has in nearly every kit or case for it. I'm not saying the 500 is bad. It's just not what it could have or should have been.
