Best Pizza New York: Scarr's Pizza Sicilian Pizza Orchard Street Lower East Side. Hands down, the Best New York Pizza right here right now is at Scarr’s on Orchard Street at Manhattan’s lower east side whether it be a slice for lunch, chilling with your crew, late night munchies or a delivery for a lazy weekend in bed. It was opened in March 2016 by 2 decade pizza veteran Scarr Pimentel whose resume includes legendary pizza haunts like Joe’s and Lombardi’s and models couple Sara Blomqvist and Jeremy Young. This location at the lower east side just blocks from where all the owners live is still one of those places that feels like a neighborhood with boutique shops where practically everybody knows each other.

What makes the Pizza here so damn good? Perfect combination of 3 essential components: The crust, tomato base and cheese which is a testament to Chef Scarr diligence in personally hand milling the flour and sifting it twice before letting the fresh yeast dough mixture rise at least 24 hours, tomatoes are locally sourced – not canned and the cheese is a symphonic blend of whole milk mozzarella, skim milk mozzarella, pecorino romano and parmegiano reggiano.

The old school letter board menu has just a few items but you can customize with a long list of toppings including pepperoni, Italian sausage, pancetta, cremini mushrooms, anchovies, jalapenos, cherry tomatoes and more. We love the cozy laid back vibe which caters to a young and hip crowd complemented by hip-hop and R&B music from multiple eras. You can find a seat at the wraparound bar or one of the backroom booths for an intimate and thoroughly relaxing dining experience. The soft drinks beer and wine are all served on-tap only using natural ingredients, and supporting local vendors. For refreshments, we highly recommend the Presidente Dominican Republic Beer and the organic Black Cherry Soda

There can be no doubt that the true star of the show is Scarr’s Sicilian Pizza where the dough is double baked and topped off with their home made tomato sauce, blended 4 cheese mix and fresh basil leaves. While it may have a thick crust, it is remarkably airy while being charred to crusty chewy goodness. It’s a classic case of how something so simple can be unforgettably good.
