This is very useful because super famicom games can be much cheaper and there are some exclusive titles. :)

Wow that was a lot easier than I thought. The plastic inside isn't really hard so it came out easy with just a pair of pliers. Systems works fine.

Have you tried certain SFC games like Super Donkey Kong?
I once attempted this on mine with my Pro Action Replay which doubles as a region converter but it only showed the following warning after the into fanfare;
"This Game Pak is Not Desgined for your Super Famicom or Super NES".

So the US SNES is truly the only option for those who hate modding their own in such ways that can't be reverted.

This is super cool and simple. What's the downside of this?

Hmmm, so I just cut those little deals off and can play japan games without buying the extra system ehh?  I may have to try that sometime.

What about a uk/pal snes? Would like to play Japanese version of Super Aleste.
As never got to own a snes.

I think you're better off getting an SNES Game Genie and removing the tabs from it. It can be used as an adapter without altering your console.

I did the modification and sfc will run but some crash and other will flicker badly

Or better yet for people that would rather not modify the snes...how about modify the cartridge? You can make slots in the cart with a dremel. I did it on the SGB2 cart pretty easily. It's crazy, given a fairly valuable SNES and a cheap Japanese cart, and it's the SNES people want to break? I mean those tabs do have the purpose of holding the games in a little better.

Can you not stretch retro games across an LCD with 16:9 ratio.... ew.

At least change modes to 4:3

About four years ago, I purchased a North American SNES and had this modification done for this very purpose. I recently purchased a Japanese Super Game Boy (1). Will it work on my SNES?
