the mic on my Thunderpole T-3000 was giving me some problems (which I since swapped with the mic from the T-800), so before spending money on a replacement from Thunderpole I thought I would open it and try to troubleshoot it, as well as opening the plug, I was surprised by what I found inside the mic housing.

Weight makes it feel like good quality, a trick manufacturers learned a long time ago! We still fall for it. Depending on the fault, but the buttons may have cracked the joints, mic insert might also be a problem if no sound. Cable, especially if not copper could be a bit problem. But it will be in the bin by now if you haven't fixed it.
