"This getting to the moon is really getting good."

For everyone here, the real prize isn't the $30million, that's merely a perk.

I am an 8th grade science teacher.  My kids beg to watch more than the 2 a day that I show them.  These have so much more than science.  They are inspiring as they show "regular" people with a passion go for it.

Why isnt this competition getting more publicity!? I stumbled upon this video some time ago and there are barely any videos about it aside from the shorts about each team. You would think that everybody would be talking about this...

Google Lunar Xprize needs to be showed to others. my son saw a video about it at school, and he now really wants to be a part of it. This competition was set up to 'bring mankind's future to us', which isn't a bad way of putting is.

I don't need to explore the moon, I have a whole universe to explore in No Man's Sky.

Would just like to say a massive Thank You to Google, Bad Robot and all the competitors in the Google Lunar XPrize Documentaries Moon Shot for making some of the most delightful, inspirational and informative documentaries I have seen in years. What an awesome dream to visit the Moon again and thank you so much to all of you for sharing your passion,
furthering human and robotic space exploration, inspiring the next generation and helping the human race toward it's future among the stars. Thanks so much and well done! I wish you all all the best. Goodluck and goodwill and big love to you all! :-) <3

"I have a small budget. I am just trying to reach the Moon!" I know so many who would just start laughing hard trying to say that.

This just proves human capability when we're focused = the unimaginable happens. It's amazing, almost surreal what we're capable of, especially when we work together with funds & intelligent minds.

Main issue is that the prize is only $30M. Imho it should have been ~$60M, which is roughly the cost of the cheapest launch vehicle on the market today. Right now, while the teams certainly have the budget to build something that can get from earth orbit to the moon, they can't afford to actually get it into space, because getting a launch isn't free. They essentially have to rely on being able to get a rideshare with some expensive satellite that is light enough to leave space payload on its rocket. I can't really imagine that any satellite operator would be that charitable. The prize needs to be large enough that the teams could foot a reasonable portion of their launch costs.

I wish I had gotten to participate in this competition. I love space... I love these kinds of projects.
I know someone will take us to the moon again. I believe in you all. More than most of us, you are a big part of the future!

I have an uncle who worked for NASA as a machinist during the Apollo program.  He made several tools used by the astronauts to gather moon rocks.  He made a shovel that's still up there and told me that if anyone ever gets there and comes back, to bring his shovel.  he wants it back.
