The 2019 trade that saw the Los Angeles Lakers acquire Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans was one of the most talked-about moves in NBA history. While it seemed like the Lakers gave up a lot at the time, including Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and multiple first-round picks, how has this trade panned out? Dive into how this blockbuster deal has impacted both teams and whether the Lakers truly came out on top.

So we just gonna completely ignore the fact that those pieces were turned into CJ McCollum, Dejounte Murray, Jonas Valanciunas, and Larry Nance Jr. Also Herb has now become a 1st all defensive player.

Mike challenge: Make 1 upload without saying the following words: Los Angeles, Lakers, lebron, bronny or WNBA. His meat riding is getting out of control 😂

This guy consistently has some of the worst takes I’ve ever heard

What's crazy is that the Lakers immediately won a chip (making them the winner of this trade by default), only to then not really run it back and then make some of the worst front office decisions to waste AD's prime and the remainder of Lebron's good years.

Like if they had not traded for Westbrook and signed AC and Demar Derozan (which I believe came out to a similar salary situation) they could have contended for 2/3 years.

100% the Lakers won a ring. The Pelicans haven’t been able to make it out of the playin.

Nah they used one of the Lakers picks for DeJounte Murray. Brandon Ingram about to probably get traded. Once that trade settles it could be more to the trade.

It's a win-win trade for both teams.

AD was just gonna go there in the off-season, as for superstar trades when they want out it’s not bad

It's not win-lose vs the two teams. It only matters whether the team gets better/gets pieces for a rebuild or not.

If you look at who Pels got in the long run Pels got a haul. They got BI, CJ, Herb Jones, and Murray. Yes Lakers got a championship but Griffin has done a great job of Maximizing the value.

Pelicans won the trade but then fumbled the ball and wasted all those players they got

AD was on the last year of his contract. We going to walk for nothing if they didn’t trade him.

If LBJ was more patient, the LAL could’ve signed AD without giving up any assets. They were under the cap back then

Ingram rn felt like a great rock for the Pelicans to lean on when Zion wasnt on the floor, also was a great 2nd option to Zion getting the Pelicans to the playoffs. They could be better but I'd say it was an ok trade :)

Anthony Davis is not resigning. They got a superstar in Brandon Ingram and traded some pics away. Good trade in my book.

Pelicans still have draft picks from Lakers and that's how they have their young core

Lakers got a ring out of it. That’s an instant win. No question.
