Coverage of the Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace booth at Indo Pacific 2022; the international maritime exposition in Sydney, Australia. Australia approved in April the procurement of Naval Strike Missile (NSM) for its in-service Anzac-class frigates and Hobart-class destroyers.

=====================

Representatives from the company shared more details on this new NSM contract and what makes this next generation anti-ship missile unique. They also mentioned the StrikeMaster project which is a truck-mounted NSM launcher. We also discussed Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace's activities in the Indo Pacific region as well as in Australia.

Nice report Xavier, well done on highlighting the connections and commonality between NSM and how it can be used with the FDC of the NASAMS II systems we are bringing online and the potential for the Kongsberg CDS.

Now all we need to do is confirm JSM for the internal carry weapon of choice for the F-35's 👍

nsm fitted on bushmasters are a wonderful idea you could drive them on containers ships land them on islands giving large range of defense. We could build them in Australia easily under license for Kongsberg defense.

The dutch navy is also switching to kongsberg to replace the aging Harpoon system, As they are going to build new frigates and update their larger frigates . It makes a lot of sense of having a European build system.

Great purchase I just think the LRASM missile made more sense for us 🇦🇺. Nonetheless am happy with NSM, the harpoon was last decade.

Xavier Q. Was there any mention of NSM sales to NZ for their ANZAC class frigates? It interesting to see if all 5 eyes get NSM for their warships seen Australia will be future supply hub.

Thanks ScoMo for what he's done for the country during the past 3 years.

That's one hell of a enviable missile🚀 by Kongsberg as does the Xavier's hairstyle 👦. Former is nimble and latter is suave.

it'd be unsurprising Australia mainly chose NSM for interoperability & commonality w/ the US which makes sense. but not minding that factor, Seabreaker would be better, similar abilities but 300+ km range

If the missiles will be made in Norway. The delivery date will be Q3 2023 at the latest. If the missiles will be made in Australia. The delivery date will be somewhere in 2051.

why do they always display the missile upside down?

Building the missiles domestically makes a lot more sense than relying on deliveries from the other side of the world. Long supply lines quickly become a liability in a hot war.

"Hi everyone..."? Even if he's speaking to a live audience, it is gauche for a compere to say 'hi everyone'. That immediately de-personalizes them. More so on solo media such as radio or video. Almost all viewers are solo. So get some media training and say 'Hello, and welcome to...' etc. Check the video "TV Presenter Training, Top Tips and Hacks" at 99 seconds.

The USA should have never bought into the NSM system. Boeing was going to build a Harpoon ER, which met all of the US Military's requirements and cost less. Boeing was even going to sell upgrades to the existing harpoons for 25% of what the NSM cost new.
After LRASM goes to full production, it will be a cost competitor with NSM and LRASM has a 1, 000 pound warhead, which is about 4 times the size of NSM at 270 pounds.
It is also likely that the LRASM will get an ER model in the future, which could have similar capabilities and range as the JASSM ER, and would be double the NSM's range.
Amazing how corrupt the system is and how much the USA has become reliant on other countries' equipment. No doubt the USA will find itself in a war these "allies" disapprove of and we will be cut off from their overpriced junk.
