They did Bolin dirty the whole series, but at least they gave him Lava bending. He one of the best character imo, he’s always trying his best and never negative to other peoole

Korra had no interest in Bolin, but when she was feeling down Bolin asked her and they both agreed to go out just for fun (but Bolin being Bolin he still hoped for more.)

Mako got salty because he liked Korra but didn't want to admit it, so he tried to accuse her of bunch of stuff.

I don’t hate Korra, but even as a kid, I thought it was absolutely messed up what she did in season one to use one of the siblings to make the other jelious, and then made Bolin cry.

Out of everything she did, THAT is one of her actions that I hated.

First, Korra did not date Bolin to make Mako jealous. They just hanged around, but Bolin thought he had a chance with Korra. That's why Bolin was carrying flowers in that infamous scene. He was looking for Korra to ask her to be his girlfriend.
Mako and Korra did not balance each other at all. Both have very explosive personalities. While I don't mind them breaking up, I do mind the dumb subplot of Azami and Mako getting together again. It was completely unnecessary and wasted time.
Hmmm, no. Just by the numbers, Korra did not spend more time in romantic subplots than having character development. Most of the relationship episodes are in season 1, there's a couple of them in season 2 with some bits and sprinkles in between the episodes, especially the first half of season 2. And then nothing entirely dedicated to romance in seasons 3 and 4.
You know the one character that actually spends more time in romantic subplots instead of a more significant character development? That's right, Mako. Poor guy got really relegated in seasons 3 and 4, and seasons 1 and 2 only have him as a piece of the love triangle, so yeah, pretty much this description applies best to Mako.

Still give mad props to my man Bolin. Sure his love life was a bit rocky, but dude still managed to date not one, but two Water Tribe Princesses (Korra and Eska), a smoking actress when a moving picture star, and then finally landed Opal who not only made him genuinely happy, but was also Earth nation royalty by being the daughter of Suyin and dating into the Beifong bloodline.

Bolin damn sure had a bumpy start and most of the partners were kinda crumby one way or another, but damn if I can't argue that this dude has an impressive list of suitors under his belt.

They are kids. She knew nothing of others. She wasn’t home he hopping or making people jealous. She was reacting and surviving in a situation. She was never trained to be. She was only taught how to fight and learn how to use the three elements that was it. Legitimately nothing else was taught to her.

Season 2 of Korra would be been so much better if they did a Ninjago Possession approach. Somehow Unalaq is able to free vaatu without the harmonic convergence and Vaatu straight up possesses Korra for most of the season

Korra had a crazy amount of character development. She went from being a fearless vigilante to a reluctant peace keeper to being a sacrificial lamb to being at her lowest and weakest and then becoming fully realized in her power and the savior of republic city and likely the world
