First responders had risk their own lives to make 100 rescues of people who ignored the mandatory evacuation order. 9 people who ignored the order died, all from drowning. I wonder what was going through their minds as they were swept away in the dark and drowned. Did they think how stupid it was to do the"riding out the storm" approach? How powerful was the storm surge? It knocked the block wall down next to frenchies and destroyed the parking lot lifting huge slabs of pavement.

If you live 3 feet from the ocean, AT sea level, with 12 foot storm surge, 5 DAYS warning, HURRICANE prone area... sorry... they knew the dangers
