UPDATES AND LONG-TERM COMMENTS My brother and I will be putting these on our DR650s when the stock tyres wear out, if we have any further comments we'll leave them here in the pinned first comment.
A COMPLAINT: I scoured the internet looking for positive and negative comments about the Shinko 244. A viewer has just mentioned a rear tyre that started to fail quite quickly. Here is a summary of his comment and my reply.
J.B.: I used them on a 701 and the lugs shred after only 300miles exposing cords. I started the slab section of the ride to get to the trails. It was 70f and the sun was down. I was cruising on the highway at about 65-70mph. My 2016 701 was loaded with 40lb of gear and a 160lb rider. After the first fuel stop the tire showed some unusual wear. I decided to keep an eye on it. By the second fuel stop every center lug on the rear tire had shredded off and cords were exposed in places. I attempted to warranty the tire and nether Skinko nor Moto sport would stand behind the tire. I attempted to leave a negative review on the website documenting my experience however moto sport quickly deleted my review and photos."
Me: "That sounds like very poor customer service. I collected every comment on could find on forums, Facebook and Youtube and hadn't come across this so it probably doesn't happen that often? Any decent distributor and retailer would be replacing it and seeing if they could grab your tire to show to the manufacturer. Quite a few of our guys use Goldentyre... expensive but really good wear and traction generally. One of the guys had the side knobs peeling off his front and Goldentyre immediately replaced it and sent pics to the factory as this normally only happens to cheap tires."

This channel is probably one of my most beloved channel. Love the narration, the information, and the hidden subliminals that make me pause to read for a great laugh. Love you guys, never don't stop!

Love the 244's, I have been using them on both my DRZ and DR for over 10 years, very durable and good on both road and trail.

I ran these on my Zero FX, trail and road use. No complaints, great "50/50" tire, I'd buy again.

That's all I run on my DRZ. Been using them for 7 years on the little bike

Had them on my KLX400R and thought they were pretty good, mainly on harder surfaces but worked great

I have been looking for these tyres but none of my local motorbike shops stock shinko tyres. Have ended up with the dunlop series of tyres and have been moderately happy. Ran a d606 on the front which lasted around 6000km, for me who does a fare amount of highway zipping the lugs tent to chop a bit. Tried a dunlop d603 found grip good but tyre wear not great, wore out in about 3500-4000km completely. Have dropped to the d605 which is more of a 50/50 tyre and it handles great on road but noticeably a little less grip off road. Easier to break traction on my xr250l in the dirt, the combo for me works quite well, even did my first enduro on the 605 and she held up great on the rocky NT terrain. Will see if I can order a set of the shinkos when these wear out.

I've been using the Pirelli MT-21 on my DRZ400, the front tire is great, the rear only last 2K. I just installed a D606 on the rear. I've only have about 500 miles so far. Years ago I had a DR 350 and the best tire I found for the rear was a trail wing 302. I think I'll switch to an IRC or Shinko.

I ran 3 sets, good tire but loud, dryrot fast, super moto wheels drz400, 2 rears to 1 front, 3k miles rear 5k front 99 percent road, terrible on wet grass and mud, awesome on road traction

Love the 244's. They wear like iron. I've used two sets of them on the CRF250L. If I wanted to use the KDX as an urban hooligan bike it would be with those and a 46 or 45T rear.

244 does seem to work well out back, for what it is, but I agree that mine have felt a little slippery in the rain at times. I don't care for the front at all, though. I use a Shinko 700 up front. Extremely tame looking tire that grips shockingly well. Also, it runs as smooth and quiet as any street tire. Very fond of Shinko off-road tires. 525 cheater with a Goldentyre fatty up front is my 100% go-to.

I appreciate this review. Going to have to replace the rubber soon on my new to me, freshly restore ‘09 KLX250S and likely to get these 244s. The family and me will be riding this wee steed likely very close to 50/50 road/dirt. Seems like a reasonable compromise. Thanks for posting.

Tusk Dsport is my pick having tried both

I like the sr244 as a rear tire, but the sr241 as a front tire, as experienced on many Honda trail 90s.

Nice upgrade from my Ford Model T tires I've been using

I really like the IRC GP1 tire for 50/50. It was awesome on the Colorado rocks. Sucks in the sand or mud, but you can't expect a mild tire to do well in that kind of stuff.

I use the 244s on my XR650L. I can get a set for less then 1 D606 rear tire and they hold up great. Mostly used on hard pack, rock, and gravel. I also use a rear 244 on the front of my TW200.

All I know is I put a 5.1 inch wide 244, which is 1 inch wider than stock on the front of my TW200 and I now have road rash on my right arm and a broken left wrist thanks to a tank slapper at about 60mph. It is a heaaaavy tire and I'd had it on for a thousand ish miles. I can't help but think my accident might have been, at least partly, due to the extra weight. I think it's heavier than stock even at the stock size, but also has a higher load rating than the original death wing, which I ran for a good 8500+ miles. I think I'll replace it with another 244 but at the stock width, at least to make me feel better at "speed."
