Hey Mayhem, I went ruins searching a while ago, and this is what I found.
1. There are about 4 (or maybe 5?) types of ruins, with huge castle ones and tiny ones with bad loot for ppl in the late game.
2. Hidden chests actually exist, it's just that some of them are hidden under blocks. There may be clues, just like in one structure a ladder stopped over a cedar wood plank, which disguised a chest below it. The hidden chests have better loot, I found one with quite some gold and a diamond.
