I did the same thing with my crushes house in high school. She did not find it this flattering. Good to know I was right.

The older he gets the more he sounds like Jack Nicholson.

Stanley Kubrick remains one of the towering giants in cinema. Someone described the work of great directors, saying one can randomly choose a single frame from the reel of film, make it into an 8x10 photo and hang it on your wall and it was an art piece. Every frame was perfectly lit, and perfectly framed to elicit the emotions of the viewer which the director envisioned. Kubrick was certainly in that league.

Wish more people applied that level of dedication to other things.

Artistry / Insanity / Obsession - Accurate for describing Kubrick’s fanaticism for getting his films right. It’s hard to argue with the results of Kubrick’s 2001. I don’t know if this was healthy for his personal life or those around him but the film results are amazing.

And this is why I like interviews about movies. I don’t care about the fake, the money all the bs. This hearing this is a awesome story.

In every single Kubrick film the floors of the movie sets are immaculately clean. Every film. Every scene. Never knew why. Just his thing I guess.

"And you could end lighting the miniature there - but if you keep tinkering with it..."

😂 John Aquino’s comment. Reminds me of myself when I landscaped the yards in Yorktown. I spent a tremendous amount of time out in the middle of the cul-de-sac and across the street in front of the neighbors house looking at the front yard.

They built a 3/4 set of the exterior of the Overlook in Elstree...I saw it when I went to the studio....and the interior set caught fire after filming had completed and gutted that particular building. Plus... interesting fact...they were filming The Empire Strikes Back at the same time.

Ahhhh...I didn't know this about Kubrick's methodology. I'll have to see if I can adopt it for myself, but first I have to learn how to build models.

Ben Affleck (Matts good Friend) deiced to mess with David Fincher on Gone Girl. He and the DP changed the lens on the camera 1/10 of a shade higher of an angle. This to ANYONE would be impossible to tell if something was shifted. David walked in and said right away "Did someone change the lens?" A master Director knows his craft :3

Stanley Kubrick: such a joy to watch his movies. Such a nightmare to make them.

Any person who doubts the validity of Kubrick's posthumous autism diagnosis needs to listen to this. Homeboy made people sit there for hours at a time while a tinkered with models, making the most minute of adjustments every time a pic came back, just to have a shot of something he probably could've worked out in his head. Dude was definitely on the spectrum 😂
