I don’t think it’s an insult when people want to take a photo with a ‘black guy’ - I think it’s a compliment, as they see you as rare and special. For instance, growing up in Scotland, I saw a ‘black’ person for the first time when I was about 11, and they were mesmerising.

I’ve actually been the only black man walking downtown Beijing and Shanghai. The people were so polite. I wasn’t being stared at or anything like that. I honestly felt more comfortable than many places here in the US.
