So, in this one I play my Gibson SG through the amp I recently built - a Fender 6G3 Deluxe. That means it is a brownface. What does it sound like?

If you count the holes drilled on the front panel for inputs, volumes, tone and vibrato you find it is exactly the number needed to make a ‘59 bassman preamp. If you can live without vibrato, the tube count is exactly what is required for a tweed bassman pre- amp. I am of the opinion that a Fender Deluxe brown power section with a 59 bassman preamp is the best studio amp you could build for the least money. Some of us guitar players play bass too. The weirdest/ coolest thing; when i set three tones plus presence the ‘59 preamp has for the best guitar sound on the normal channel, it sounds ideal for bass plugged into the bass channel. I did not mention the original deluxe output transformer is probably necessary for a dead on 61 deluxe power amp sound, but a black face output transformer might be close enough. I built this tweed/ brownface deluxe/ bassman concept. Its the only bass and guitar amp I will ever need.

Very nice, when you build your own amp and it turns out great, its magical.

why didn't the chassis fit all the way in, looks very odd mounted this way, it sounds awesome btw. That bias tremolo is really great. I love my Fender Chris Stapleton Princeton brownface amp.

I also built the MojoTone brown deluxe kit - my favorite amp! Warehouse G12C is the speaker I settled on.

Beautiful amp, and a great job of it. I don’t know about most forgotten though; I only found out not long ago that there was a short-lived blackface Deluxe non-reverb model. I have a 1966 non-reverb Princeton Amp, but I was completely unaware that there was a Deluxe equivalent. You almost never see them anywhere on YouTube.

I also built a 6G3 recently. It's one of Fender's best amps ever.

Fine work James. My favourite tone was on demo 3. The character was there without too much break up.

Great work, James. It's a fine sounding amp, one that I'd very much like to hear a Tele through too.

Sounds amazing! I had the chance to try a Brown Panel Concert recently (I believe it was a ‘62 but I can’t remember for sure) and it was fantastic! The tremolo alone in them are just incredible. That Deluxe sounds great and that midrange and edge it has are awesome!

If people are looking for a Fender Brownface 6G3 then you could take a look at the Stamford from Emprize amps in the UK.

The 6G6 I built a few years ago is still my favorite amp. Going to make a 6G16 Vibroverb next! Cheers!

Nice sound. It'd be interesting to hear it thorough a Fender cab as I suspect the speaker selected will change the sound.

In my schooly band I had a "Tremolux head" and a vox 4x12 cab which I was too dumb to keep cos It was 1979 and all I wanted was more power so I ended up with a Hiwatt 100 which my pal blew up using a guitar cable instead of a speker cable to hook up the cab..forgave him but the old tapes of that fender tremolux sound similar to your deluxe head. The amp you built sounds fantastic, keep it simple, there are too many amps with built in FX but the best sounds always come from the simple designs. If I could build an amp that sounded that good with an SG I would be more than content. Play it and enjoy it . I would really like to know what speaker Magna-tone put in that cab? Keep on truckin!

Build a Prince Tut! Ceriatones 22 watt Princeton! Reverb, Princeton tremelo, no roach! I love Princeton, s! The 15 watt is just a little too small for gigging. Beautiful in the home or studio! Call it Brown Billy! Billy Gibbons sound!

The 6G3 Deluxe is definitely a thing of its own, having a Suhr Hombre, which is just that.
The bias trem is definitely my favorite type of tremolo, I’m just not a huge fan of the still tweedy, very grainy breakup character. But great for some grittier stuff…

@JamesOnGuitar What’s the verdict on this amp a year later? What are you’re thoughts and opinions? I’m looking to build one
