Close up of before and after would of been nice. Kind of hard to see any progress.

From someone who's working on his very first finishing project of a 3D printed head/bust, I can tell you this has "shut up and take my money" written all over it!! Thank you for sharing!

My first year of 3d printing i used a dermal. My 2nd year of 3d printing i moved to a Micro Sander that moves side to side. this was useful. did corners better. and can fit in little slots to clean out the edges Proxxon 28594 Pen Sander might want to check it out. P.S. if you going to use a dermal make sure you keep it very low RPM and a light touch or your going to heat up the plastic and melt it.

i have been using this one for 2 years and works well i make my own pads in different grit. Expensive machine but a must have honestly.

Thank you for sharing valuable tools and links. Another way for those users who want to get a smooth surface with FDM printing is that: we can try PVB filament, and be polished by alcohol and become a solid and smooth surface.

For me some of the best tools to remove layers:
- Card scraper (using hard metal sheet edge) is fastest but mostly limited to larger convex shapes.
- Sanding using 60 grit (sand paper or pads) is my main tool usually using a Dremel on low RPM or a drill, sometimes with some water for cooling. May not work for models with fine details.
- Hot air at 190‒200°C for PLA / 280°C for TPU works also really well to even reach a shine but it's harder to master (too long and you reveal the infill or disform the part, too few and you do nothing at all).

Would have like to see that with a primer finish afterwards to see how smooth it really finished.

Oo, that does look nice. I had looked on Amazon but didn’t check eBay. Ordered! I hope all goes smoothly with the move.

I made one of these bout 3 years ago. I used a toothbrush I got at Walmart and made the head with the 3d printer.

You get better results using a rotary tool. The motor on those cheap hand tools won't last for long, plus you have to have extra batteries.
A rotary tool comes with hundreds of attachments and it also comes with variable speeds. I got one for $25 on harbor freight 5 years ago, and still works like new!

So is it similar to a battery operated tooth brush. Just with a sanding head on it?

Creative collector had showed this about a month ago. Looked like a great tool.

I bought a rotating toothbrush, 1/2 in glue dots and a 1/2 inch hole punch for the sandpaper. Take that 4-6 weeks shipping from Japan

I even used a regular mail file, for my first 3D print, which was just the other day.

thats nice, do you think it would work better than a dremel?

What was that debur/scraper type tool you ran across your hand called?

I just bought one. I can't wait to try it out for myself! Thanks for the video.

Hi! Thanks for the info! Will that tool work on curvy surfaces? Or is it only on flat surfaces?

Ever heard of a rotary drill like a Dremel? I have a rotary tool that purchased three years ago for under $25 and I can still purchase the bits for it and there's hundreds to choose from for all kinds of jobs. Good luck trying to find the replacement sanding pads for your Mr. Polisher a few years down the line.
