No one ever asked to be born. What happened to Serena was awful, but it's not Liv's fault. Whoever said that a child should pay for the sins of their parents really needs mouth glued shut

You really gotta feel for Serena. She was from a generation where women had limited options for getting help, as well as limited resources for having been pregnant as a result of being raped.

But at the same time, you also can’t help but feel hatred towards her for the way she was to Olivia

I understand Serena, i know its not Liv's fault, Serena didnt have the help she needed and she never recovered, i do think she loved her child but couldnt see past the rape.

I was molested as a little girl and my father was my attacker. He was a drunk but that wasn't an excuse. He did it to me cause he was sick in the head. I have anger towards him but I still love him. He passed away when I was a teen and I'm glad he is gone cause I'm finally safe
I'm grown now and married. I promised myself since I was young I would never do anything to hurt my children or even be a drunk. Olivia's mom never had the help cause back then it wasn't common.

I've always wondered why we never saw Liv's mother after the Pilot episode. I would've loved to see some character development for her.

The new season is great. It's suppose to be a little different, because it would be boring if it wasn't. The episodes are true to life and always on point.

Women who get pregnant by rape, their pain is very understandable and sympathetic but it’s not the child’s fault that he or she was conceived that way. The child had no more say in that evil than the mother did. The child shouldn’t be punished for the sins of another.

I feel sorry for Olivia. What happened to Serena was awful, but Olivia is not responsible for her father’s actions and this is all Joseph’s fault.

I really wish they'd stuck with the concept they had for Serena in the pilot - Which was that loving Olivia helped her to heal from her trauma, inspiring Olivia to be a source of healing for other victims, too. Instead, we just get another abusive parent backstory.

There was an episode in one of the earlier seasons where Liv dives deep into her biological father, I think it’s how she meets her half brother Simon (?), and she sees that her dad had a collection of newspaper articles about her…because there was speculation that Serena and Liv’s bio dad were actually having an affair or something
