The Tanzania Urban Resilience Programme (TURP) has conducted a comprehensive flood analysis of the flood-prone Msimbazi river basin to inform a resilient urban design for the area.

In 2016, TURP was established to mitigate economic and social vulnerability to climate-related risk through coordinated and strategic action. Led by the Government of Tanzania - with support from the World Bank and funding from the UK Department for International Development - the programme is implementing activities in risk identification, risk reduction, and emergency preparedness.
