The world today is being shaped by a keen awareness of the plurality of challenges confronting the planet ranging from climate change to global conflicts, economic downturn, political shifts towards populism and nationalism and much more. Concurrently, rapid technological advancements in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, biotechnology and automation are shifting the ways in which we live, work and learn. In envisioning solutions for human and planetary sustenance, there are more questions than answers. Yet, people do not want to hear more about the challenges, they want to hear about the solutions.
In a rapidly changing world, we are reminded that the future is not fixed; we have the agency to shape the world through our actions or inactions, knowing that the world’s greatest challenges will only be addressed through unprecedented leadership, solidarity and collaboration. Therefore, how should education systems evolve in order to equip future generations with the required skills, competencies and adaptive strengths to shape the future and lead purposefully in an ever-changing world?
